Solid projector for the price.

Comments about Epson Home Cinema 2040 3D projector:

A great projector for the price, very crisp image and brightness. I have it in a very dark theater room, but the picture looks great whether its pitch black or lights are on. I have only seen two cons so far: the fan is a bit noisy on normal settings, and there is a bit of motion blur during fast moving action. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase though.

Love it! Minimum distance for the room is 10ft for a 100'' screen worked out perfect. Super friendly staff as well and even double checked before shipping to make sure it was the right one for me.

Comments about Epson Home Cinema 2040 3D projector:

This is my third projector. It had a great picture right out of the box. I have not yet explored all the adjustment possibilities. Some viewers are real picky about black levels, and brightness. This PJ is probably the best value for the money. I've seen others that are much more costly and the difference in quality is insignificant. I had to be within 3 feet of a 120" diagonal screen to just barely see any pixels and I had to concentrate on seeing them.

Comments about Epson Home Cinema 2040 3D projector:

I have very little experience with projectors, but for the price, I can't imagine it gets much better in form factor and picture.

Wanting a small projector I could move around my house and use for projecting digital photos on canvas for painting, this is a good overall size and weight. It has a brighter picture than I expected, which is a bonus. I was told by the projector people service department that this was the projector to get for accurate colors. Coming from an older, lower resolution projector to this 1080p has been an upgrade in many areas.

I'm curious to see how long the bulb will last, but right now, I can't imagine it getting much better for the price new.

Thanks for all your help, Projector People! You helped me make a sound decision and I'm thrilled as always with your service and support!

Purchased this projector to do in person sales with our photography studio. We are projecting onto a 10' x 12' wall. Images are crisp and colors are right now. The projector was really easy to set up. Just had to plug it in! Thanks Projector People for your recommendation.

Looking to purchase this projector. Will have a 100" screen. If the throw distance is about 11', what is the maximum vertical offset between the top of screen and center of lens. Thanks.

      • Q:

I'm considering replacing my old projector with the Home Cinema 2040. It is currently located 12' from the screen on a pole mounted about 16" below the ceiling. The top of the screen is about 32" inches from the ceiling. Our screen is 49" by 87". Will this unit fit my needs and if so How much will I have to move the mount to achieve good performance? Thanks.

          A:

The 2040 will only do 49 x 87 from 8'10" 10'8" so you would need to move it up. Or find a projector with a 1.65 throw ratio

      • Q:

Hello! We have an pre-installed Stewart Filmscreen 80"W x 60"H with a rated image gain of 1.3

We will mainly be using the HC2040 to watch movies and stream videos via Netflix (etc.), so I'm assuming a 16:9 ratio. Maximizing the use of the 80" width, approximately where should the projector be ceiling mounted? How long of a tube do you recommend from the ceiling? The overall size of our room is 22'L x 14' W x 8' H - Thanks! Mark Lange - wanting to order ASAP :)

I found that the projector needs to be mounted so that the bottom of it is at the same height as the top of the screen. To find the distance from the screen, I recommend using the calculator on the projector central web site.

My projector is mounted approximately 13' from the screen. The smallest projected image I can achieve at this distance is 111" diagonal. My screen dimensions are 96"W x 54"H.
You will need to be under 13' (my guess somewhere around 10') from the screen to project an image small enough to fit your 80" screen.

      • Q:

I am considering the Epson 2040 for showing commercial films in a room that is 20x100 feet. The films are aspect ratio 16x9 and 4x3. They are in NTSC format, PAL format and Blue Ray.I have DVD players that "play all formats.
Will the 2040 project all of the above in the room described?
Will I need speakers, and if so, will I also need a Receiver?
        I'm not technical--please be patient.

You will get sound, but it will be from a small mono based speaker. If you want better fidelity (and possibly surround sound) then yes you will need a good Audio/Video receiver. Pioneer makes one of the best in most price ranges. Of course you will also need some good speakers to go along with your new receiver. It all depends on how realistic you want the sound to be where you're watching the projector.

The 2040 we play all those formats. You may need a receiver and speakers for better sound. Consider this Onkyo system
