PHENOMENAL picture

Comments about Optoma HD142X:

I've seen "Lawrence of Arabia" 6 times in 70mm on huge cinema screens, and this projector replicates the experience 100 percent. STUNNING picture depth and clarity. Colors are subtle and brilliant, and one need not operate this projector in complete darkness because it has an extremely powerful projection. I'm totally, utterly pleased with this projector. A+

Comments about Optoma HD142X:

We bought 2 of these for our Church. We seat roughly 100 ppl. Projecting it on (2) 80' diagonal screen 16:9 1080P. Very bright and clear. Works perfect right out of the box. Love the remote control and all of the options. One is about 50-60' away using a 75' HDMI cable and one is about 30' away using a 50' HDMI cable. Using MAC with HDMI splitter. No delay in projection. Easy set-up and would recommend to anyone with 100-150 ppl church. This projector can go upwards around 130" diagonal screen with ambient light so maybe even a bigger church. Projector people are great to work with! Fast shipping and competitive pricing.

Can't imagine a better picture!

Comments about Optoma HD142X:

I could NOT be any happier. This unit is incredibly quiet, stays cool (compared to many others), and at the price I got it for I should have bought 2. If, and only if I were to complain about anything. I would say the backlighting on the remote is a little bright. I can use the remote to find other remotes in my theater. I have only had it for a few weeks, but WOW! Incredible color, brightness and crisp sharp picture.

Comments about Optoma HD142X:

I did not read the contents very well and didn't realize it did not come with an HDMI cord (my fault- not theirs) but was able to purchase one locally with no problem. Really glad I got one with a zoom capability. Have used it in as small room at home and a classroom on campus and both worked really well.

Great projector for the price

By Terry

Comments about Optoma HD142X:

My last projector was an Optima HD20, which was a great projector for the price. The HD142X is to replace the HD20 due to DLP chip failure after nearly 4000 hours of use. The HD142X is significantly brighter than my old unit, the whites are really white, and the black is really black. This is a huge upgrade and I love it. I also love how the unit can power down my amp though the HDMI cable. The unit is fairly quite. Image is super crisp and sharp, color quality is excellent as well. 3d looks awesome on this projector as well once setup. I do wish this projector could detect when a 3d signal is being sent and switch back and forth, but right now you have to do it manually which is kinda a pain. My only real complaint with this unit is that im pretty sure the color wheel is only a 1x, so if you turn your move your eyes quickly you will see a split second of the red/green/blue in certain areas of the picture. Not everyone notices this, but I do but for the price and picture quality I can live with it. I believe the HD20 had a 3x color wheel and this was never an issue. My first projector was an InFocus unit and it had the same color effect. I am happy with the unit, next one I buy I will pay extra and make sure it has a 3x color wheel or better.

Would projecting 9' to a 6'x7' digital screen work?

      A:

From 9' away, the largest image would be 49"H x 88"W, and the smallest would be 45"H x 80"W.

Yes, I'm showing on a 10' screen with no problem. Shows a great picture at
      that size also.

  • Q:

Does the HD142X use Passive or Active 3D technology---aka Passive (like more movie theaters use), or Active (requiring powered 3D glasses to sync with the projector).

    Thank you!

    • A:

Its Active 3D. I would recommend grabbing the RF glasses if you pick one
up. That way you will have no line of site issues. Glasses last 30+
      hours on a charge too.

      A:

It uses active 3D glasses. Most projectors do.

      A:

It has keystone correction, and a small amount of optical zoom. It does not have lens shift, unfortunately.

    • A:

      Yes to keystone correction.
Not sure about zoom - the farther away, the larger the picture. Mine is 12 ft and yields a beautiful 100 inch diagonal.
