Sports And Projectors - The Perfect Combination

A projector is your ticket to larger than life football, basketball and baseball games. Projectors produce the best value in big screen viewing, with a much lower cost-per-inch compared to flat screens. Here are a few reasons why we'd choose projectors over flat screens any day:

Projectors produce GIANT images.

Projectors are not fixed in size. You can have an image from 30 to 300 inches depending on your mood.

Building a home theater is a simple DIY project that adds value to your home.

Projectors are cheaper to ship than TVs. Plus, we offer free shipping on all projectors over $699.

Projectors work with DVD and Blu-ray players, iPads and iPhones, Gaming Systems, and many other sources.

Projectors are super-portable. They usually weigh less than 10 pounds and can travel with you very easily.

Hands down, a projector is the closest way to replicate watching a movie in a theater.

Sports appear larger than life on a projector.

*Did you know? Not only do we provide projectors to people who love sports, we also work with major sports teams. Our customers include the Miami Dolphins, Minnesota Vikings and Atlanta Falcons, just to name a few.

Sports Projectors: Go Bright Or Go Home

Projector brightness is measured in lumens. The more lumens, the brighter the projector.

How many lumens do you need? It doesn't matter what you're watching - football, baseball or a stirring documentary about the plight of the quokka. The single most important factor to consider when purchasing a projector is the ambient light in your viewing space.

Dedicated home theaters with controlled lighting will not need as bright a projector as a living room with big windows. To make your friends jealous, we mean to get the biggest images, follow these guidelines when selecting a projector:

Dedicated home theaters need 1,000 lumens or brighter.

Rooms with some ambient light should have at least 1,500 lumens.

Spaces with high ambient light need about 3,000 lumens.

What's The Score? Determining Projector Resolution

We recommend sports fans opt for a home theater projector rather than a business unit. These have better video processing capabilities and provide higher contrast ratios.

The most popular home theater projector resolutions are 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) and HD (1920 x 1080). 4K images have double the pixels of regular HD, resulting in a much sharper image.

If you can, go for a 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) projector. These have recently dropped in price and are designed to deliver all the details of your ultra-high definition content like Blu-ray discs and output from your Gaming Systems. Consider 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) projectors a more future-proof investment.

But fear not if your budget only allows for an HD (1920 x 1080) projector. They still look amazing, and the immersion factor makes up for any minor loss of detail — especially for images smaller than eight feet diagonal.

Postgame Fun On Your Projector

Your new projector isn't just for sports. You can use it to watch movies and concerts, set it up outside for an outdoor movie night, or bring it to the office for some larger than life Excel sheet sharing. (Fun!)

Here at Projector People, we break out the Xbox One when the game ends. Just because the Gators lost in real life doesn't mean they'll lose on "NCAA Football".

If you're also into gaming, pick a projector with a refresh rate of 120Hz or higher to avoid lag. To learn more, check out our guide to gaming projectors »

bring your projector outdoors to watch the game

Bring your projector outside and host the coolest football party on the block. Try doing that with a flat screen.
